Peels are used to remove a surface layer of the epidermis and therefore to make it look fresher. The acids used for chemical peels help to keep acne under control, through their sterilizing effect on the skin and by unblocking pores. However, we need to correct a popular belief which says that chemical peels can remove wrinkles. Although they are very useful in clinical dermatology, peels are not powerful enough to remove wrinkles.
