The fractional PIXEL CO2 laser by Alma Laser is a really powerful technology. Actually, CO2 energy has always been well-known in dermatology to be the most effective energy and to penetrate deep into the skin. These days, the medical cosmetic market has made a lot of progress and we have many devices to work with. It is important to have the right devices, but it is above all essential to know how to use them correctly!
The PIXEL CO2 is a very high-quality laser. It has several different tips, which allow us to vary the intensity of our treatments with extreme precision. One of the handsets available is the ‘Lite Scan’. It allows us to use a CO2 laser very quickly, which is often very useful.
The energy delivered from de PIXEL CO2 is fractional. This way of working is now very common for ablative devices, regardless of the type of energy used. Luckily, as time goes by, the technologies evolve and are less ablative, which means the down-time is less important than before. The problems with scarring and side-effects with this are too significant.
The CO2 laser is not recommended for patients with high phototypes (dark skin). In this case it is better to use fractional radiofrequencies.
