The fractional PIXEL CO2 laser by Alma Laser is a real star among our technology. Actually, CO2 energy has always been well-known in dermatology to be the most effective energy and to penetrate deep into the skin. These days, the medical cosmetic market has made a lot of progress and we have many devices to work with. It is important to have the right devices, but it is above all essential to know how to use them correctly!
The PIXEL CO2 is a very high-quality laser. It has several different tips, which allow us to vary the intensity of our treatments with extreme precision. One of the handsets available is the ‘Lite Scan’. It allows us to use a CO2 laser very quickly, which is often very useful.
The energy from PIXEL CO2 is fractional. So, the skin remains intact between the destruction points. This way of working is now very common for ablative devices, regardless of the type of energy used. Actually, gone are the times when we did fully ablative treatments, which uniformly remove a large layer of skin. The problems with scarring and side-effects with this are too significant.
The CO2 laser is not recommended for patients with high phototypes (dark skin). In this case it is better to use fractional radiofrequencies.
