Ulthera is a non-surgical procedure, approved by Health Canada, which allows us to do a facelift, a neck lift and lift the eyelids and eyebrows. This procedure uses ultrasounds to firms the skin face and redefines its contours, without any recovery and very few side-effects.

Ultherapy is a technology which was launched in 2008 by the American company Ulthera. In the autumn of 2014, Merz bought this technology, which was experiencing rapid growth worldwide. The focused ultrasounds from Ulthera can create internal tissue damage, which stimulates the rejuvenating process of the cutaneous and sub-cutaneous structures. Just as with skin burns, the body will heal micro-points of burns and thus create completely ‘new’ tissue, which is filled with collagen. What is unique with Ulthera is that the procedure can apply heat without skin damage, so without the need for any recovery. The micro-focused ultrasounds can be delivered at depths of 1.5 mm, 3.0 mm and/or 4.5 mm.

At Dermaskin, Dr. Laflamme is the only one that does this treatment.. Like an artist, she uses the ultrasounds to sculpt the face. During the procedure, she chooses the Ulthera settings in order to target the structures which require treatment and thus to obtain volume in the desired areas. A combination of artistic skill and medical expertise allows her to assess your face in order to bring harmony back to the volumes, which is often disrupted by aging.

A The Ulthera procedure requires detailed and exhaustive analysis, in order to decide which tissues need to be heated. The device allows us to work on the superficial dermis, the deep dermis, the fat cells under the dermis, and/or the SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system).

It is Dr. Laflamme’s experience and expertise which mean that each of her treatment plans are tailored to individual requirements. Depending on your morphology and your needs, different suggestions will be proposed to you.

What are the clinical indications for this technology?

Ulthera is a non-invasive solution which replaces a surgical intervention. This procedure is the only one to be approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration of the United States) and by Health Canada to smoothen the tissues of the eyelids and for neck- and face-lifts. With a full treatment, 86% of patients experienced clinically significant smoothing of the eyelids. On average, the change in height of the eyebrows is 1.9 mm. An FDA and Health Canada approval were also obtained for neck and cleavage procedures.

What happens during a treatment session?

Procedures using Ultherapy are completely comfortable, thanks to the movement technique of Dr. Laflamme. Therefore, there is no need for analgesia or anesthetic cream.

Your body regenerates over a 12-14 month period, so you need to give the tissues time to regenerate. A check-up appointment with photos will be done at 3 months, and as required, at 6 months, 9 months and 1 year. (no additional fees are required)

What are the possible side effects and how much recovery time is required?

The possible side effects are restricted to redness and slight and temporary edemas.

How many treatment sessions are necessary?

A single treatment is required, although it is nor contra-indicated to do more than one. The results from Ulthera are permanent, they create a rejuvenation of your face which will last over time. It is certain that we cannot stop the aging process, but it will take several years for the benefits of your treatment to wear off.

How much do these procedures cost?

At Dermaskin, we almost always suggest combinations of treatment for our patients in order to target different layers of skin. you. Thus, we offer an Ulthera budget ranging from 500$ to 1500$, which will often be combined with other technology. During your consultation, the analysis of your photos and your issues will allow us to draw up a treatment plan which fits your budget and your needs.
